Dr. Borbor was one of those rare breed of doctors trained during the civil conflict who specialized and returned not only to offer services, but to teach at the medical school and mentor young medical doctors...His role in training and mentoring young medical undergraduate and postgraduate students was pivotal in the future of health care delivery in Liberia. Dr. Ameyo Stella Adadevoh (8/19/14)

Ameyo Stella Adadevoh, a Consultant Physician, First Consultant Medical Centre, a Lagos based hospital, died of Ebola disease Tuesday, August 19th. She led the team who attended to the index case in Nigeria.

Dr. Sheik Humarr Khan (7/29/14)

"Dr. Sheik Humarr Khan was the director of the national Lassa fever program for the Ministry of Health and Sanitation in Sierra Leone and an expert on treating viral hemorrhagic fevers like Lassa fever and Ebola virus disease. He studied medicine at the University of Sierra Leone and completed a residency in internal medicine at Korle Bu Teaching Hospital in Ghana. He worked with the African Centre of Excellence for Genomics of Infectious Disease, the Human Heredity and Health in Africa Initiative, and was a founding member of the Viral Hemorrhagic Fever Consortium. Khan had treated Lassa fever patients for more than 10 years. At the time of his death, he was helping coordinate his country’s response to the Ebola outbreak. Widely respected by colleagues, President Ernest Bai Koroma hailed him as a “national hero.”

"In memory of Dr. Samuel Brisbane, a giant among men. Dr. Brisbane came to be known as "Iron" during the war because of his unflinching dedication to the practice of healing his patients in the face of bloodshed and destruction."
